Palm Beach County

As the largest county in the State of Florida land wise, Palm Beach County comprises the northern section of the South Florida region. With a fast-growing population of around 1.4 million residents, Palm Beach County ranks third in the state behind only Miami-Dade and Broward counties respectively. The largest cities in Palm Beach County are West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Boynton Beach.
Although residents and tourists alike enjoy the many attractions Palm Beach has to offer, the county still faces a number of challenges. One of these is the decline in home sales caused by the bursting of the housing bubble. Home sales plummeted from nearly 40,000 units in early 2005 to around 7,000 units by the end of 2009. According to City-Data.com, the median price of a home in Palm Beach County fell from around $270,000 to around $160,000 during the same period. This data, along with economic uncertainty, has lead to a rise in the number of foreclosures in the county.
