Although Broward has a number of positive aspects, the county faces difficulties as well. Broward continually ranks second only behind Miami-Dade in the number of car crashes each year. In 2008, 26,417 crashes occurred in the county, leaving thousand injured and 228 dead. Furthermore, Broward County also has relatively high alcohol-related crash data, resulting in the county repeatedly ranking third in the State of Florida over the last (5) five years. In 2008, 1,714 alcohol-related crashes occurred in Broward County, an increase of over 100 from the previous year's figures.
